Instructions

There is no traditional pattern for this frame, all of the instructions for weaving and constructing it are included in the post though.

Difficulty:

Category: Paper Crafts

Type of item: Functional

For: Home

Style: Retro / Vintage

Materials

Cardboard, old book pages, glue, mylar

What was your inspiration?

I wanted to see if I could create a frame using this weaving method.

What are you most proud of?

That I actually remembered how to do the weave (think... gum wrappers from way back when), and that it worked out very well.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Read over the instructions (spread over a couple of posts), and look at the photos. The only really tricky spot is the corners. As always, if you have other questions, email or leave a comment.

Can't wait to try this! I do weaving in the form of chair caning, shaker tape & reeds & I love how relaxing it can be. Thanks for sharing

I learned caning when I was younger too, and basketmaking from the same reeds... fascinating to watch a project like that come together, isn't it?
