What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Just dive in! Lace isn't scary if you don't let it intimidate you! You'll be surprised how many skills you already have that you can apply to this if you've been knitting. Choose yarn you love!

Don't turn your back on your cats! This has been frogged. I was knitting row 19 of Planet Stitch, wen to move the laundry into the dryer, came back and my knitting was missing. I found it in another room, having been mauled by one of our cats (I'm looking at you Finneus!) it wasn't salvageable. It will probably be a while before I cast this shawl back on. I'm just heartbroken.
