Wonky Castle BOM February Paper Piecing »

What was your inspiration?

This is the castle block for February. The swap group's block for this month is done in the color teal.

I fell in love with castles while reading my storybooks as a little kid and I still romanticize them. I thought it will be fun to run a block of the month with free Wonky Castle paper piecing patterns.

You can follow the event at my website at -

If you decide to participate, I would love for you to share your photos on the Whims And Fancies Flickr group at -

Have fun!!

This is quite stunning! It first made me think of an old cotton mill I once saw in Derbyshire (England) - a very historic place. But then, when I saw that it was a castle, it made me think of the Castle at Firmoy in Scotland which used to belong to Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. Very evocative and extremely interesting!

Thank you!! Funny you mentioned Scotland because this one was modeled after the Eilean Donan castle. The Scottish castles are very different looking, I think. I tried to look up the Castle at Firmoy, sadly couldn't find any. I will make a note of the cotton mill in Derbyshire for out trip to England!
