Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Boys

Style: Funky

Materials

Cotton fabric, poly thread, poly batting

What was your inspiration?

My son is REALLY into Harry Potter, he owns all the movies and a wand and everything. I had found this paper piecing pattern in an old book and since I am NEVER able to make anything for my son (boys are so hard to sew for) I knew I had to make this. Kinda looks like the old man wizard in Harry Potter.

What are you most proud of?

Um... the whole thing. This was me attempting FMQ. You can see at the top where I was sewing swirls with my regular foot and I thought this is not going to work! I'm just going to have to TRY FMQ, so I tried and it's not perfect but you know... my son won't even notice.

Such fun! He might be Dumbledore, but he made me think of Gandalf too (from the Lord of the Rings)!

What a cute pattern! It really does look like Dumbledore. It wasn't that long ago that my grandson would have loved some little Harry Potter items! You are so right about boys being hard to sew for. I made lots of Halloween costumes for my son and my grandson and I've also given them quilts and fleece throws that have been a huge hit.

LOL DUMBLEDOR! I could not think of his name! Thanks for that. They are hard! So stinking hard, it drives me nuts! I feel like the worst mother because I make SO MUCH for both my daughter and this is the first thing I have made for my son.

My grandson loves his fleece throw from last Christmas as much as anything I've made for him and that didn't require any sewing at all.
