Wire Wrapped BlueGoldStone

Instructions

I am just learning to wire warp. I have looked over a lot of pictures and read a few instructions here on Craftsy but I think it is more of a free form, let the wire and cab or bead dictate how it is going to happen. Choose your cab or stone or bead, practice with some cheap wire before moving on the Sterling Silver or Sterling Silver filled. Find something you like and let the wire kinda move ...

What was your inspiration?

I never cared much for gemstones, my style is bold and bright and that is not the words I would use to describe gemstones but I found a lady that hand picks, hand cuts and makes the most amazing cabs and I picked out 2 and now I am hooked on the beauty she gets out of her rocks that are picked from her back yard! These blue goldstone have such great color, dep blues and purples and them the sparkly glitters gives such great depth, I had to use this stone to make a necklace, no other beads needed! I have a ton of her cabs waiting to be hung and wrapped and you too will see what I mean about the hidden beauty of these stones.

What are you most proud of?

I was able to to this wrap without wasting any precious sterling silver wire and it came out right the first time! It was really a trial piece that turned into a very proud moment and item for me. I am now practicing doing even more complex wraps.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Practice, practice, practice! Use cheap wire to star out and let the wire do its thing!

I make all of my jewelry with some semi-precious gemstones in them - I fell in love with the jaspers and agates and their beautiful markings. Try it - you'll like it!

I just received my order of copper wire (multiple sizes). Like you I wanted to start wire wrapping. I have seen some good and bad ones. I like how you show a picture of the back, this is especially important for new people like myself getting into wire wrapping. Love all your work!!!

GOod Luck with the wrapping! I did the same thing you are doing, looking at all the pics I can and I love to find the back photo! Look at You Tube for wrapping videos, I found one that was step by step and it was very good!

I really like this. I've seen some not-very-attractive examples, but your work makes me want to try.
