Materials

Sensations (Joann Fabric) 100% acrylic bulky weight. I don't remember the exact name. Sorry.

What was your inspiration?

My step daughter is expecting her first child. She asked me if I would make something for the baby. Of course, I couldn't say no. :-) Immediately, I went through my many books and magazines looking for the perfect gift. It occured to me that making a gift for a new addition to the family, expecially a first grandchild, should be something special.

I chose the swirl motif from Margret Huber's The Granny Square Book. The swirls reminded me of the cycles of life. I arranged each motifs so that the swirl direction would be grouped with two facing opposite of the other within the sequence to represent the cycles of life--what goes around, comes around.

What are you most proud of?

She loved it! I love the special effect of the swirls.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Use your imagination.
