What was your inspiration?

When I was knitting my lace knit fingerless gloves, my husband said he would like a pair of fingerless gloves to work in his shop so he could continue to feel the work surface. I thought of cables for a man's design. I wanted to do a design that is not already out there. I always love how old gnarly trees look in the winter when all the twists and turns are visable. It was a real challenge to get the cable to go where I wanted it to go but I am really pleased with the result.

What are you most proud of?

My husband loves how they fit and feel on his hands. They give him the warmth he needs in the winter but he can still feel with his fingers.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

This pattern works up fairly quickly. It takes about 10 hours. Anyone who loves to knit cables will enjoy this design as it is really different.
