Winter Baby Boy Blanket

Pattern Info

Pattern info for this project can be found here:
Bubbles Baby Blanket »

Difficulty:

Category: Crocheting

Type of item: Functional

For: Children

Style: Cute

Materials

Magnum 8ply

What was your inspiration?

The pattern by Deneen St Amour called Bubbles Baby Blanket is the one I used. It can be found by cliking on the pattern name under the main photo or you can go to http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/bubbles-baby-blanket. The outcome will depend upon the yarn and tension. I used 100% acrylic (two strands). The border is two rows of the same stitch but done in blue.

What are you most proud of?

This is the first project with appliques I had done.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

This was quick and easy to do. A thick blanket that I hope is not too heavy for the baby. I did 2 rows of the pattern as a border and it definetly looks better using a different colour, which I was able to add once I knew the new arrival is a boy.

The pattern for the applique is from Coats and Clark (www.coatsandclark.com) pattern number WR1667 Bird and Flower Appliques which is found under "Crochet" and "Accessories". I put a applique in each corner and really happy with how it turned out.

Thanks for the information! What are the dimensions of the finished blanket? And did you do these as machine embroidery projects, or are they hand done? It looks so professional!

I really like this idea, but not sure how to handle two strands at once. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Love2Crochet on craftsy.com
Nov 08, 2011   Flag as inappropriate
Practice on a small gauge first. It is often difficult to not get the two balls entwined, so evey so often I hold the two strands up and let them unravel themselves. Other than the problem of managing the two balls, it is not different and it works up twice a quickly so half the time needed !!!!!
