What was your inspiration?

I wanted to create a simple pattern using pre-cut fabric strips called "jelly rolls".

What are you most proud of?

The colors pop! Perfect for a first time quilter. A more experienced quilter can complete this project in a weekend!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Pre-cut fabric strips called "jelly rolls" make this project that much quicker to complete.

Thank you for the wonderful tut on this as well! AND the free pattern! You're so generous. I do have a comment that I also left on your blog--I abolutely LOVE this pattern! My hubby fell in love with it when he walked in and saw it (he loves lurking when I'm looking at quilts!). How many "extra" blocks would I have to make to make a queen or king size of this? He really loves this pattern and would like me to make one for our bed!

I responded by email, but wanted to put it here also in case anyone else wanted to know. I calculate 56 squares for a queen size quilt or 4 of the black and white jelly rolls and 4 of the red jelly rolls. For King size- 72 squares or 6 black and white jelly rolls and 6 red jelly rolls.

What a great pattern! Simple blocks are sometimes the most striking.

Very striking! Black, white and red is a super-duper combination and I really love the pattern. I may well give this one a whirl myself!
