What was your inspiration?
I designed this pattern a year ago and it is just so much fun to make. This is maybe my third or fourth time making it -- this time, for my niece who was turning 4 years old. I modified my original pattern by making it slightly smaller for her for this particular project. She was my inspiration for making this project.
What are you most proud of?
This is my favorite pattern I've designed thus far. It's fun and whimsical and totally up my alley. Particularly for this project, I loved the colors and fabrics I used in this version I made for my niece. :)
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
If you like to machine applique, this is the quilt for you! I love love love machine applique (if you couldn't already tell from the other quilt patterns I've made..) and this quilt was just so much fun!
My advise for someone starting this project is to read all directions before you begin. I've tried to explain the machine applique process as clearly as I could. My intentions were that even if you know nothing about machine applique, you could follow these directions and come out with a lovely end product. Also, follow the helpful tips I've added. They will help you understand the instructions and steps a little bit better.
And lastly, if you need visuals on the machine applique process you could always visit my blog:

My Dr. Seuss Scrappy Quilt Part 2 tutorial goes over each step of the machine applique process with images to demonstrate each step clearly. The process and techniques for machine applique are always the same, so following my tutorial steps will help you understand the applique for this pattern.
