This is my original design based on theories and motifs from Cindy Needham's "Design It; Quilt It" class. I didn't have any stencils so I used my own designs to FMQ this placemat. This is the 1st of 4 that I am working on.Difficulty:

Batik top fabric, Warm & Natural cotton batting, and Shadowplay quilter's cotton backing. Quilted with Superior Threads' 40wt Magnifico poly thread.
What was your inspiration?
I've had some placemats sandwiched and sitting around for a few months, and they seem like great pieces to try out some of these new design skills I'm learning!
What are you most proud of?
I really LOVE doing the cathedral windows background; it's slow going, but looks great (even though they are a little wonky in places...)
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
LOVE this class!
