Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Toy

For: Other

Style: Cute, Romantic

Materials

White Cotton eyelete fabric from an old blouse

What was your inspiration?

I was trying to make a pattern for a Regency dress and the bodice was just a tad too long, So When I looked up a picture in a fashion history book I saw that it looked like a summer dress from the Romantic Era and was happy enough that I would not have to make that dress later on and Checked it off of the list!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Recycle, Recycle, Recycle! Why buy new fabric for making doll dresses and fidgeting with hems and cuffs when you can just use what is already made with old clothing? Look at the hems and cuffs of my dresses for my dolls and you will see what I mean! Most of my dresses come from Recycled clothing that either myself for my daughter will not wear again, nor can be worn by any other family member due to worn-outness(yes I know that's not a word, and my grammar is bad), but spending money on new fabric is out of the question for doll clothes when my daughter needs new school clothes and supplies!

Love the dress! Would it be possible to see the pattern for the bodice? I'd like to make one for a traditional barbie figure.

I will try to get the patterns scanned. but I created the pattern by pinning fabric onto the body double to see how I wanted it to look. Then cut off the excess fabric bits and placed it down on paper to make the pattern tracing. It is as simple as that.
