Tell us a little more about your inspiration. It was a book on colored pencils and how to blend and shade.

Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this piece. I bought a scooby-doo black drawing pad with bright neon colors, and I thought that the white flowers would really stand out against the black. This is the first time I have worked with black paper.

Very nice! Is it coloured pencil? Pastel would also lend itself to this .....

Yes, it is coloured pencil. I was working in layers. Usually I work in mixed media, combining colored pencil, with pastel and ink. Thank you for commenting.

Thats a neat idea! White is hard to do, I never what color to make all those shadows, great job!

Using the black paper in this way was very clever and effective. It really makes the white flowers pop. I also like the subtle use of purple (my favourite colour), to give the sense of depth. It is a lovely drawing. I am in Australia and have never heard of "scooby-doo" paper. Would you mind replying to this with some details about the paper?

It is not special paper. I was in the kids aisle for coloring books and such, and I found a black pad of paper with Scooby-Doo and the gang on it. It is just plain black paper, and neon crayons came with it.

Neat idea, i'd like to try that, working on black or colored paper that is. I like this piece, reminds me of sitting in the garden in the moonlight
