What was your inspiration?
Dress from the Burdastyle handbook.
What are you most proud of?
The edging on the flounce.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
I followed the instructions for the Burdastyle dress almost exactly.
The only thing I did differently was I made a narrow bias strip for the trim on the flounce at the neckline instead of a zigzag stitch. I did an invisible stitch on the back side to tack it down. I think it turned out really well and professional-looking.
Also for the bottom hem flounce I did not use the pattern piece but cut a long strip of the yellow, pressed it in half and used the ruffle foot on my machine.
The keyhole turned out bigger than I was expecting, I have to work out when to add seam allowances and when not to.
All-in-all I am very happy with this dress, although Im not used to wearing white and I feel like Im going to get giant stains on it everywhere I go. But thats my own sloppy problem.
