An eclectic mix of glass in various cool, rich hues of blue dangle from a sturdy copper chain. In the center a single old coin from the Kuchi tribe of the Middle East. The Kuchi tribe regularly use coins in their jewelry and stitched onto their clothes. This particular coin is from Pakistan and is dated 1989. It has a blue glass bead welded to the front making it a perfect fit for blue glass beads of this rustic, tribal piece. The pendant hangs from a hammered copper loop. The beads sound so nice clinking together... great for belly dancing.
What was your inspiration?
The colours of the glass beads reminded me of the varied tones of blues of the water and sky on the coast during a trip to Cuba. When adding the glass to the copper, the contrast felt similar to how the sand looks when contrasted to the water and sky. I also wanted to create something that incorporated the Kuchi coin with blue glass and that would have a gentle sound while moving... great for belly dancing. This Middle Eastern theme combined with the Caribbean ocean and sand motif... like a desert oasis -Where the Sky, the Ocean and the Sand meet
