What materials did you use? scrap busting! used fabric from a charity fabric purchase. I think it was save the children.

What are you most proud of? I did follow my rules of only using stash material, however, as I was cutting and placing my fabric I KNEW I should have picked a dark solid instead of the multi-color hand print to help set off the stars. always listen to your gut! I continued on with my first choice and it is not horrible but not the look I was after. Good new, this is an accurate 12.5 block!

What advice would you give someone starting this project? be sure to use contrasting fabrics for this block!

I admire your courage to show it to the rest of us. Sometimes color choice is hard to visualize until the block is done. I saw a tip to check for contrast by taking a picture of the fabrics kind of grouped together and then view them in black and white with a basic photo software.

Thank you for the tip Mindy! And the encouragement. I'm a glass half full person so now I will have a lap project to take along to the kids practices :) I plan to remove the bad and sew in some real contrast. Never one to give up :)

I guess beauty is definatly in the eye of the beholder, because when I was browsing the project pictures this one jumped out at me as something really colerful and fun and yet you consider it a "take apart" project!! LOL-- Don't take it apart I love it! But then look at my hexi block..you will see I LOVE throwing all sorts of stuff together :) I say well done!
