Home & Garden: What greets me!
1 kudoz

What greets me!

Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Home & Garden

Type of item: Plant or Flower

For: Home

Style: Classic

Materials

Plants.

What was your inspiration?

I never wanted the excitement of a my first home to go away. I figure by creating a beautiful garden that will give me that feeling everytime I pull in the driveway. Surely it does!

What are you most proud of?

All work was done by myself and I won the City of Toronto Great Garden award for 2009. Just coming home to this makes me feel like a winner every day!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

A strong coffee, pencil and paper put your plans together and work from there.

Thanks! It's a very tiny front yard which made it a little more difficult to work with, but it came together. I believe that garden area is 18'x12' (216 sq.ft) in total, a scale down plan works best when planning a garden this size and research each plant growth size etc...

But it looks like even on a slow horse you'd have to look hard in your yard.

beautiful! all my neighbors ask where my weeds are? I tell them what my dad always used to tell me," It looks pretty good to the blind man riding by on his fast horse!"

Yep, that's right! Believe me, there is lots of weeds there but I don't set a time or date to pull weeds I pull them everytime I walk by.

Beautiful, how did you do it all?
MarinaL on craftsy.com
Jun 13, 2011   Flag as inappropriate
Thanks Gabbie! I spent a lot of time in front thinking of ideas and what I wanted to see, I woulb make notes as ideas come to mind. Eventually I got my dad and a bunch of friend to help me dig and remove an old tree stump. Did an outline and started planting after many trips to the garden center to figure out what will work in my space. It took 2 years to fully complete with lots of love and hard labour.

well that looks like cheating to me! too many stones, easy peasy, hard work cums with weeding!
MarinaL on craftsy.com
Jun 13, 2011   Flag as inappropriate
haha, no cheating I bought the house with all the stones and believe me I have a lot of weeding but constant effort makes it looks neat!
