Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Stupendous Stitching: Adventures in Surface Design »

Instructions

I used the pattern drunkards path but made it as a nine patch rather than a four patch. I choose a black background and a stupendous stitching piece that didn't have too many different colours.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Funky, Geeky, Traditional

Materials

cotton, ribbons, rattail bnding, batting, embroidery floss

What was your inspiration?

I wanted to combine a traditional pattern with something new I learned

What are you most proud of?

I finally finished all the quilting. Never done so much machine quilting but I really like the end result

Great idea! Making fancy fabric by embroidering plain fabric. I've seen fancy fabric made by string piecing plain fabrics together, but this is something new--"string embroidery?" Don't know if I'd have the courage to cut apart my "string embroidery" baby into quilt block pieces.
