what a fight

my cancer journey

my cancer journey

Pattern Info

This project was designed by bluetwin@wi.rr.com.
Info can be found at:

cancer ribbon quilt

Instructions

all I did was make blocks and traced a cancer ribbon on each different colored fabric scrap. they were then all hand appliqued to the blocks, the blocked were sewn together and then quilted.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Women

Style: Cute

Materials

cotton fabrics

What was your inspiration?

I was too sick to sit at my sewing machine so a hand project was just the thing.

What are you most proud of?

I love the way it turned out.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Use tiny stitches while hand appliqueing and thread that matches your stitched design colors.

i applause you. this quilt is just wonderful. I myself just went through breast cancer myself. when i finally got to where i could stay awake for more than 15-30 mins i got the urge to start quilting again. i find a new love this time around. while stitching you have the time to find peace from the angry, pain, feeling sick. I look at the world and quilts different. i see new/fresh life in them../ keep up the great work in quilting and may you experience a whole new world of life.

Well done! My niece is an 8 year survivor, so keep the faith! I spent two years hand sewing a quilt top for my grand-daughter while we made trips back and forth to the hospital and nursing home where my father-in-law was. It helped keep me calm when I most needed to be.

Well done you!!! Hope you are felling better now, nasty disease, yep hand sewing would have been the way to go. I find hand sewing much more relaxing than Machine sewing. I imagine when you go to the point of being able to machine sew you were feeling much better. I have been sewing like crazy, as I am waiting on some news I cannot say what at this is a public site, no it is not cancer thankfully. Take care and enjoy your quilt as your milestone to your battle for life. keep quilting its beautiful

You are so strong putting your attention into such a lovely quilt. I didn't want to do anything. I wish I would have known about you sooner. I am good today. Cancer treatments have come a long way in such a short time. My prayers are with you for recovery...and more pretty quilts!

I just finished putting the blocks together for my daughter-in-law's, cancer quilt, that she is going to give to my niece who lost her mother this last year. The blocks were hand stitched, cross-stitched, then set up with turquoise and black. Thank-you for sharing your quilt and please continue to stitch and quilt.

Thank you for sharing such a remarkable quilt. I have ovarian cancer and applaud you for the work you did on it as I know how exhausting cancer and it's treatment can be.

Beautiful and well done you. I have many friends who have had breast cancer and a son with leukaemia so any help towards keeping up awareness of this terrible scourge is great. I just love the colours you have chosen too, they are my favourites.Jo Stewart, Oman

so beautiful! Thank you for sharing your project and story!!! I lost a dear friend to ovarian cancer in August. I may do a quilt like this to give to her Relay for Life team to auction/sell/raffle off for fundraising. I'm also doing some nurse scrubs for them to sell.
