What are you most proud of? The ease with which the mug rug pattern transferred into a lovely little wall quilt measuring 9.5" square.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Start with the mug rug pattern and make the sea and sky bigger - as big as you want. Add an extra wave and a line of flying geese. Alternatively you could add applique clouds (from April Sky Mug Rug pattern) or a line of bunting (as found on Dad/Pop Mug Rug). When you are all done, add a couple of quick corner triangles to the back before you put the binding in place. Play around, try something new, use tie-dye fabrics, try a new patchwork technique. But whatever you choose to do - have fun! p.s. For a tutorial on the 3D flying geese block check out my blog at http://thepatchsmith.blogspot.co.uk/.

Thank you - I am rather partial to it myself :-) It doesn't show so much in the photo but the sea is jade green and the patched wave stands slightly proud due to the quilting.
