Maybe a simple 4 patch with a sold coordinating fabric alternating with the 4 patch

What about a lap quilt? May e add another coordinating fabric to make stars.........or..........

I'm going to make a king sized quilt for the bed at the lake house that is entirely decorated in "Texas" or "Western" theme. I'm interested in stars but, I don't like paper piecing. Is there a block you could recommend?

There is an Ohio star, it is pretty simple with half square triangles and squares. There are also lots of block patterns available at quilterscache.com.
