I don't sew the zipper right to the stretchy fabric, I make the facing wider and push a bit out to show then sew the zipper to the facing. This adds stability as well as an extra "punch" of color! I also add snaps to the inside of the cuffs so that they stay sharp looking when riding!Difficulty:
Category: Sewing
Type of item: Costume
For: Women
Style: Mod, Traditional, Funky
Materials
Stretchy fabric, satin and a thrifted black leather skirt, flat jewels, sport zipper and crystals.
What was your inspiration?
My daughter needed a new shirt for showing and she picked out the fabrics. To buy a shirt like this is crazy expensive and I can whip one out for under $30 !
What are you most proud of?
The fit is really nice and I love the way the accents turned out!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Make sure you pick the right type of stretchy fabric. If you pick one with not enough stretch, it won't fit!
