After a week’s practice, I have spun some moderately consistent fiber. This is an unknown species that came to me in a bag marked “Beginning Fibre” with the very first spindle I ever purchased, many years ago. From the little I know and the few fibers I’ve tried out at my LYS, I suspect it’s either a merino or a BFL.
Total weight is just under 2 ounces, spun on my top whorl 2.3 ounce Schacht.
The niddy-noddy is an 18-inch antique (100+ years old) of unknown wood, casually gifted to me by my father in law who had no idea how it was used or if I’d ever have use for it -- or even where he’d picked it up in his 60-odd years of shopping countryside antique shows. A man after my own heart in many ways.
