Instructions

Applique Masterpiece "Affairs of the Heart" by Aie Rossman.
This was the starting point. I then adapted it to the quilt as you go method.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Home

Style: Romantic, Classic, Traditional

Materials

Cottons, batiks and a very extensive scrap collection. Fusible web for applique and variegated rainbow thread for the blanket stitch applique.

What was your inspiration?

My quilting bee of 6 decided we needed the challenge and each bought and followed Aie Rossman's book.

What are you most proud of?

How I did it all myself, including the hand dying of lace for the small borders.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Don't try to finish in a short time. Take your time and enjoy each block. Keep at it- the finish WILL come.

This quilt is a piece of art. It could be entered into a contest and win first prize.

No thanks- don't want the worked looked at too closely- far too many flaws for competition- but I am happy with it, as are my kids.

From May 2011 to February 2012. I made them as individual blocks- applique, embroidery, quilting- then joined them using the Sharon Pederson method.
