What was your inspiration?
My daughter had a very good idea of what she wanted, which was a tredmendous help.
What are you most proud of?
The fact that my daughter was so happy with the outcome. Also, I had never bustled a gown before. It took 5 buttons because of the weight of the lace and beading.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
You need lots of time and patience and a willingness to take things apart if it's not quite right the first time. I started with makeing a muslin and making sure the fit was correct using a duck tape dress form of my daughter which I draped over a regular dress form close to her size.
Most of my time was in the beading and overlapping the lace for a seamless look.
