What are you most proud of? As many details as she wanted ,I think it came together perfectly for her taste. It may not be everyone's idea of the perfect wedding dress but it was hers! That I could make every piece of her ensemble from the jewelry she wore, to decorating the hat on her head, the gauntlets on her hands, to the garter that was made from the lace of my wedding dress the my dead mother had hand beaded. every minute piece had significance to her and was exactly what she wanted, even the coordinated headband for the dancing portion of the day! I wanted everything to be perfect for her and we agree she got everything she dreamed of in her ensemble.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Well it would have been easier if she hadn't been 2000 miles away. I made 2 sample dresses that I sent thru the mail to get the right fit for her. One version of the dress straight by the pattern, then a second with the alterations we needed, then finally when she came home 10 days before the wedding for the final fitting of the actual dress. It sounds like alot of work ,but it was a labor of love! But it was definitely the way to go, the run thru dresses were the only way to know where things were gonna hit on her. I did have a dress mannekin which made things a lot easier for fittings, It made the final fitting minimal!

Awesome job, I'd heart it if I could but sadly, no buttons

This is a fab dress, so individual, well done your daughter for bucking the trend. I also love swing dance and am currently learning Lindy Hope and Charleston here in Britain. I love the way your dress flares out.

This is such a neat family and what a wonderful story to be able to have, hold, and share over the years.,The dress and the bride are beautiful! What a tremendous loving thing to have Tia's entire ensemble crated by her Mother. Truly (like she said) a Labor of Love!
