bodice and skirt - still working on it!
From creating a muslin to adjusting fit and hand-stitching hems, Couturier Susan Khalje guides you step-by-step through couture sewing techniques!
What materials did you use?
Silk and Alencon lace
I love your work on the bodice, is that all original, or taken from patterns?
The bodice was a combination of patterns with my own tweaks. I don't know how to make a pattern (that will be my next class:), but the sweetheart underbodice was a combination of 2 patterns so that I could get an empire waistline on that. The back underbodice was a different pattern. The lace overlay was another pattern that I modified to my liking, using Princess Kate's dress as a guide. It is made of silk organza with lace cutouts applied to the organza. The pleated silk dupioni is just me messing around with fabric:)
Stunning! Did you have a bride you were sewing for?
I made this for my youngest daughter.
I love the lace embroidery it's very beautiful!
