Cake of your choice, 2x 7" round, 2x9" round. Fondant Ivory and white. Royal icing. pins. Cake board Ribbon Clay pipe. piping bag. cake board fine writing piping tip. Tylose glue. pearls (edable). Flower/ cake topper of your choice.
What was your inspiration?
Elegant Weddings. I Just love a simple and elegant wedding cake.
What are you most proud of?
The design. Its simple to do and looks great. This cake won the local show.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Stack the two bottom cakes with a layer with butter cream icing between to hold them together. Do the same for the top two.
Cover the cake board with fondant (Ivory) and cut to the edge of the board.
Cover the bottom cake with fondant (Ivory) and smooth the icing. Cut of excess icing. Place a small ball of wet fondant in the center of the cake board and place the bottom cake on the board. Smooth icing again. Repeat for top layer.
When the cake is covered alow fondant to harden.
Mark out the spaces you want your "piping" to go and place a pin into the icing to mark the spot. (Put the pin where it will be covered up)
Using the clay gun, push out the white fondant to the size you need to go from pin point to pin point, with the desired drop. Place glue on the back of the fondant and pin into place on the cake. (Using the same pins)
Give the glue plenty of time to dry. If the glue wont hold use royal icing to stick the work on. Just brush away what royal icing you can see with a slightly damp(not wet) paint prush.
Repeat this on the top and botttom with as many drops as you like (More then three gets bulky at the top)
Pipe the small dots on with royal icing and glue the pearl on at the top of each section to help cover the join. Pipe three larger dots, One at the very top of each join and one eather side. To finish off this cake place flowers or a cake topper of your choice and enjoy.
