I really wanted to try making a quillow (quilt that folds into a pillow) but I didn't have the right project in my head until I saw this fun watermelon fabric in the store. I LOVED IT. It just screamed, "Bring on Summer!" A couple of modifications I made the the traditional quillow pattern was that I made it to fold into a two handled bag in contrast to a single handle attached to what my mind considered the bottom and I wanted it to fold into halves instead of thirds. My mind doesn't like that either. It worked out perfectly though. The pocket is 15 inches without the quilt inside, which is a great size for adult feet to stay warm in and stuffed with the quilt it's a cute 12 inch handbag. I use fleece on the back and no batting to keep it a light summer weight quilt and so that i wouldn't have to actually quilt it. It's my prototype for future quillows so I didn't want to put a whole lot of time into it during my research phase.I love it though. So handy!
