Use spray starch/sizing on fabrics before cutting diamonds - I didn't, wish I had when trying not to distort all the bias edges - ended up with some slightly funky pieces.Difficulty:

What was your inspiration?
The red, black & white Scottie print fabric - Westie fabric is not easy to find! But at least Westies & Scotties are cousins as both were originally bred in Scotland. I also wanted to try the Lone Star block (never done one) and wanted something more attractive than the towel on the chair. And I have been drooling over the red, black & white blocks I see for the BOM class. Wallace sits on that chair every day watching HIS yard, HIS sidewalk & HIS street. That is, when he is not sleeping under the cutting table.
What are you most proud of?
The points on the star look pretty good & I got yet another opportunity to practice my free motion quilting (have a ways to go there). Don't you love that black stipple print? Looks stippled yet I didn't have to do it!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
I definitely would use spray starch/sizing on fabrics before cutting if I did this again. I added a step to her method for pinning the points. When I have the first pin lined up straight I use another pin to secure the fabrics. That way I don't disturb my position pin. It seemed to help. I also marked the quarter inch seam spot on each fabric.
