What materials did you use? I used a variety of commercial prints and batiks. You'll find a Kaffe Fasset print in the sky, and apple cores in the ground.

What are you most proud of? That I was able to put some odd fabrics into the piece - apple cores? - but they somehow seem to work well together.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Follow Ruth's instructions in the book. They are extremely well illustrated and clearly explained.

Ruth mcDowell's book has a similar starter pattern, perfect for learning the technique.

apple cores! How ingenious. : ) when I looked it the first time I thought "what unique boulders! You done good! : )

That fabric came from a scrap bag that a friend gave me. The moral of the story is that you just never know what's going to work.

this turned out sooooo beautiful. I love, love, love all the fabrics used in this; the apple cores, Kaffe, purple mountains. and your beautiful sunset (or rise)! You are just crankin' these out, aren't you.

Ha! If by "cranking" you mean that I've recovered them from my UFO pile and decided that they needed to see the light of day, then yes, I'm "cranking" them out. LOL!

And you really nailed it with your fabric choice for the trees. Beautiful.

Thanks Mesmerize. Browns aren't a color I'm instantly drawn to, so I have to keep reminding myself to pick them up. "Lights and darks" is my mantra in the fabric store!

THanks. I've always loved polka-dotted trees. :)

Incredible use of bold colors, prints & batiks. Absolutely beautiful!

I don't usually combine batiks and commercial prints, but what the heck. The quilt police weren't looking over my shoulder so I just went with it. :)
