Had various pictures to go by for realism of each item in picture in mural. I always have to have a picture to go by for realism, even if going to take drawing to different levels; have to know how to do things realistically first!; I think! acrylics and water based paints; I love palm trees but don't live in tropical area so have to draw them in. Painting is typically my very least favorite thing to do and I will probably redo this mural one day. But the colors and some parts, such as the hammock and sand are to my liking, which is an amazing achievement for me! Always wanted to do murals!
What was your inspiration?
I love palm trees. And like a lot of people, I love the beach. I have a large, full finished basement and have made an art studio out of it and can draw on the walls if I want to - if husband doesn't mind of course.
What are you most proud of?
I am most critical of my paintings wherever they are. I don't particularly approve of most of this except the airi-ness of the hammock. Will probably do all over at some point.
That's why I do arts and crafts and don't paint on canvases, etc..
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Have much research ready before starting. Cover the whole wall area you have designated for yourself, don't be shy about it. Enjoy.
