Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Functional

For: Unisex

Style: Classic

Materials

Material, velcro, plastic.

What was your inspiration?

My friends mom, Joann...sweet lady! She could not walk around without her walker and she always needed someone to bring her things for her...she didn't like asking for help so I thought this would help her stay more independent.

What are you most proud of?

How the cup holder turned out. I had a clear piece of thick plastic that came from a gift box cover so I used it for the inside of the cup holder to keep it sturdy. She had a cup that she always used so I didn't have to worry about making the holder versatile.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

The cup holder was a challenge, maybe because I'm a beginner...take your time and try not to get frustrated.

Very clever! You are extremely innovative and this design is wonderful. So kind of you to put all this effort into a woman who must surely appreciate it.

Hello. I use a walker myself. I don't sew, but I would like to use your ideas in crocheting one for my walker. Do you have a pattern that you offer for this project. I could use the measurements from your pattern. I really like the inside pockets (the ones that face you when you are walking. I wanted to tell you what a great project this is and how much these caddies are appreciated by nursing homes. I was in a nursing home for a while and these make their lives so much easier. I have crocheted a couple of simple ones and donated them to the nursing home that I stayed at. Thanks again for any help you can give me with this project. Jeanine

I don't have a pattern, sorry. I had an extra walker of hers for a while and I just worked off that. I just did some guessing for the most part. It turned out really well and I was thinking that her daughter would give it back to me when she died but she sold it on a garage sale, otherwise I would have been able to give you more information from that. I made one for my grandma too and didn't get that back. One of these days I will try it again so that I can help a few more people out, I did think about the nursing homes :)
