What was your inspiration?
I received a fabric pack with pre-cut pieces in it from my Mom about a decade ago. A couple of years later I pulled it out and machine pieced the top. I decided to hand quilt it - the shapes were inspired by the back of a clipboard I saw while volunteering at my child's elementary school.
What are you most proud of?
This quilt was machine pieced and hand quilted over the past 8 years - it has been to soccer meets, ballet recitals, skiing, swim meets, softball games, and two "stitch" groups. Heh...heh...I'd have to say that I am most proud of finally finishing it.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
This project will never leave our family - so many memories and conversations are intertwined in the stitching. Though daunting at the outset, I highly recommend a multi-year project like this, for the enduring stories alone.
