metal pole and flower pots

What was your inspiration?

I saw this on Etsy as I am part of Etsy Greek Team and one of the artists had one with all red planters!

We have these umbrella holes in our patio for market umbrellas! We took a metal pole, hammered it in the hole, slide pots, in varying sizes, on it through the bottom hole and tilted the pot to the side! That's it! Fill with dirt and flowers, herbs or veggies!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Super easy! Some of the flowers are the cascading kind!

I love this ... It would look different depending on what type of pots were used ... I can't wait to make 2 or 3 for my backyard ... one with flowers and vines; one with veggies and one with herbs perhaps :)

We finally got some flowers in them after a horrid, cold, spring! We need to make one gushing with herbs. The rabbits can't get to the higher pots!

Very neat idea! What type of pole did you use? Rebar?

Actually, it is an old pipe from something, but you could certainly use rebar.

i have something similar to this, how do you get the dirt to stay in when watering?

If you mean at the botto of the pot....use coffee filters! If you mean dirt falling out the top of the pot when you water....I water at the back of the pot very slowly so the dirt can absorb the water. Once the plants get established, the dirt shouldn't come out the top! Do you have yours posted in the projects? I'd love to see!
