What was your inspiration?
My 12 year old daughter loves to creatively decorate cakes. Her volleyball coach had her birthday during a three tournament and the cupcakes where a fun, easy way to celebrate.
What are you most proud of?
That the idea worked!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
This would be a fun and easily adapted project for many sports like basketball, baseball, tennis, etc. The cup cakes are covered with creamy frosting, then topped with circular cutouts of fondant. Black gel food coloring is available at cake decorating centers. Just make sure you know how what directions the strips flow, or in this case the volleyballs look odd. (Guess how we know this?)
