Instructions

Using Barbara's method I began with a size 18 (which corresponds to my upper chest measurement because I am a D-cup) and added to the side seams which brought it up to a size 22. I had to take out 1/2" across the armhole for a petite adjustment that I usually make. Because I'm a D-cup I added a side dart. I also lengthened the bodice so that it would reach my waist. For the hems I used ...

Wow great job, nice fabric too. The top looks stylish, sophisicated, but not childish.

Gee, thanks everyone for all the lovely comments! I used a matte jersey fabric which has a lovely drape to it and was perfect for this pattern.

I like the animal print - it looks so good - I'm tempted to get the pattern too, since I just got a sales flyer from Jo-Anne.

I like how this turned out. I'm a bit conscious about my tummy area. Does the peplum cover the tummy or does it stop half way?

I too have a tummy problem and to my surprise this top turned out to be very flattering. I lowered the bodice seam to my natural waistline and the peplum covers everything nicely.

The course shows you how to lengthen the peplum to any lenght you want so you tailor the pattern to suit you.

I would need to have a higher neckline with a collar and 3/4 length sleeves. would this be possible? I suppose I would never wear this stle as it is.

Yes, anything is possible--as Barbara shows at the end of the class how to make different garments from this pattern. If I were you I would find another Vogue pattern that has the neckline and collar you want and then just trace it onto tthis pattern. Same with the sleeves.

Your top is lovely! Your tip about making the bodice longer is something I am going to try as I hate high waist ed dresses or tops. I have not gotten my pattern yet .

Wow. Its great. Love your fabric choice. I really bombed with this pattern and my fabric. But I have since found a more flattering pattern and will be back to Barbaras class to make up in the new year. Love to see that great top with a yummy dark chocolate pencil skirt.

Thanks Scheri. That pencil skirt is a great idea. I have some dark brown mole skin fabric in my stash that I think I will make up. I discovered I liked this top much better when I used a fabric that has a more fluid nature such as a soft rayon or matte jersey so that the peplum doesn't stick out at the hips but falls in soft folds, so you might try that.
