Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: This was my take on the popular Cotton and Crumbs vintage hat box design. Lace pieces were made using lace molds I made from pieces of corded lace (because my attempts to pipe them as per the Craftsy class were truly atrocious and looked like a kid had gone over the cake with some kind of crayon). I cut out sections using piping tips and smaller flower cutters and glued on some sugar pearls for added texture and to make it look a bit more 'lacy'. The recipient had asked me to try freezing the cake whole (excepting the flowers and bow). The lace started to melt as it came to room temperature and a lot of the detailing was lost =(

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Don't freeze it whole!
