What materials did you use? The blocks and border are a hanky weight linen, appliques and sashing, a quilt cotton. Various types of lace was used for the fancy band (that went on top of the sashings) and lace flip flop bows in the corners. And of course cotton vintage hankies on the border!!

What are you most proud of? This was my first attempt at quilting an entire quilt this size and the 2nd time for free motion. I put alot of effort into the heirloom technique blocks, so I was a bit nervous!! I was amazed at how on grain and stable the quilt remained through out the quilting process considering I used something so unstable (linen).I barely had to true anything up, which says alot for ESS and straight basting!!! I used an all over stippling pattern...I am new to free motion so I felt that I need to spend more time practicing feathers and free motion in general before I put them on a project. In saying that though, I feel a bit remorseful that I didn't try feathers soI left the hankies un-quilted and I will add feathers or grid work soon!! Practice, practice!! I did do the micro scribbling in a few places to create some shadow, very fun!!! By the time I was finished I felt very comfortable doing my ess in freemotion instead of relying on the walking foot. Much faster!! I think we all need a push to let go and just go with it, it is what it is!! I am just thrilled with the outcome, thank-you so much Cindy!!!

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Cindy has given us an amazing foundation for achieving success!!! Putting the most effort into all of the preparation before quilting pays off in the end!!! I am inspired and excited to keep learning, and after taking this class I feel well equipped to try something more challenging, like a vintage whole cloth quilt!!
