Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Classic, Traditional, Eco-Friendly, Retro / Vintage

Materials

Vintage sheets, cotton thread, cotton batting

What was your inspiration?

My sister used these vintage sheets as a part of the favours she and her husband gave out at their wedding, and I really wanted to use the leftovers to make a keepsake for them.

What are you most proud of?

I love how the finished product is a wonderful blend of a traditional technique, an ecological material source, and a fresh contemporary appearance when it was all put together!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Be prepared for it to take awhile! Even though there was no precise cutting and piecing involved, the sheer number of strips involved meant that it took FAR longer than I had anticipated.

BEAUTIFUL! I LOVE the colors, & the sentiment! I recently made 2 of these for my nephews & loved the process, it is a bit longer, but such a nice break from having to be so precise with seams & cutting! I did a red/white one with navy binding & then a multi tropical colored 1. What size are your blocks? I love how big they are! Congrats, it's gorgeous!

Thank you so much! I did each basic block (one square with the white diagonal stripe down the centre) at 6.5" unfinished. So the larger combined blocks of 4 are 12.5" unfinished. :)
