Vintage Flower Power

Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Whimsical, Funky, Cute, Casual

Materials

cotton fabrics, fusible fleece, Wonder-Under, embroidery floss, vintage trims and beads and misc. trims.

What was your inspiration?

I'm loving this stitching technique and because the projects can be of varied sizes and totally up to your imagination, I'm finding special uses for vintage trims that I've been given and held onto. These sunglass cases that I'm making are a lot of fun and serve such a useful purpose. While I don't spend a lot of money on my sunglasses, rather than throwing them in my purse where they get scratched and broken, I'm saving those "inexpensive necessities" - "my sunglasses" - and giving them a much longer life. When empty, the sunglass cases can tuck neatly in my purse and take up no room.

What are you most proud of?

I'm embracing my creative side and, without a definite plan in mind, just letting the fabrics and trims tell me how they should be placed. Then, when I get to the point of handstitching and adding the beads - it's just a free-for-all for my imagination!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Have fun!

You are on a roll! I have two in my purse as well and like you, love the fact when they are empty, they lay flat! Unlike my previous hard cases that took up half my purse.
