Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Craftsy Block of the Month 2013 with Laura Nownes »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Retro / Vintage, Funky

Materials

I had a selection of retro vintage 70's prints given to me, I absolutely adore vintage, this particular print is a citrus themed floral with orange, lemon and lime colors. The offset is a vintage cream sheeting that I have acquired in my many treasure hunts and helped to tone down the vibrant orange just a wee bit.

What was your inspiration?

Definitely the color scheme of the fabric

What are you most proud of?

How crisp and square these turned out, I don't think I have ever had a block turn out this well.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Follow the advice given by Laura Nownes, she knows exactly what she's doing. I've never had anyone explain the basics as well as she did. My second & third piece of advice is, if you are working with true vintage pieces like I do; measure twice and cut once!! Make this a habit, there is no wasting when it comes to vintage, you may never come across the same type & color of fabric in your lifetime again and starch is your friend when it come to cutting, if you have super smooth fabrics, starch will make it behave so you can cut evenly.
