Materials
Discount fabric, scraps from fabric stash. Also used up a lot of batting scraps saved from quilt projects. You know the bits you stick in a bag and then wonder why you saved them!
What was your inspiration?
My son designed a cover for the grand's new jungle theme bedroom. As the boys are young, 4 & 8,he is removing the sliding doors so little fingers don't get smashed, & doors don't fall off hinges to crash down on heads.. His design was to fun to not give it a try! His drawing is in photo #4.
What are you most proud of?
Finding the great bamboo look upholstery fabric (54" wide!) for $3.00 a yard! And that I kept digging through my stash and came up with the "lizard" scraps. Also using up bit's & pieces of stuff that I save when quilting.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Have a surger for the vines! I cut the fabric in 3" strips & ran it through my old surger in record time. Dig, dig, dig through your saved scraps. Take your time, and don't worry about the mess that working on this kind of project makes! I was about to give up and call it finished when I found the lizards & frogs. Got re-inspired and spent another morning making MORE LEAVES!
