What materials did you use? 10 Kaffe Fassett fat quarters (mostly in red), plus a neutral background block (same fabric for the back).

What advice would you give someone starting this project? I'd use more contrasting in the fabrics than I used - although there is quite a bit of range from the lighter to darker fabrics, they're all in shades predominantly in red so the overall impression is a red and "white" quilt. Another time, I'd like to try two different colours (5 fat quarters each) so that the contrasts are a bit more pronounced. you do have to be extremely careful with cutting the initial 5" squares, making sure you're sewing a scant 1/4" seam, trimming the finished 4-patch, cutting the patch into 9 sections, reassembling the block and trimming it. I didn't quite manage to press all the segments with a seam direction that would allow all the joins to be opposing - I decided to live with that. Another time I'll work on that, as well. Now to piece the back, and assemble the quilt.

I took a lass at our quilt Guild for the disappearing 4-patch. It is a versatile black. They showed us how to also set them on the diagonal. I love your quilt!
