Materials

I have a collection of Kaffe Fassett fat quarters (from Rowen) - I pulled out all the "red" pieces - I had to purchase one other "red" printed fabric to make the 30 blocks (I wanted some for the back). I used a variegated 50wt. Aurifil thread for quilting. I created the motif and stitched it out in the hoop - three different elements were needed - for the blocks, the side/half blocks and the corners.

What was your inspiration?

I came across a photo which I put on my Pinterest Quilts page, printed it out and put it in my book of quilting ideas. I thought the red fabrics would make an interesting quilt.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

This quilt requires precision in the cutting, and in the sewing in order to get all the seams to line up. Mine are "good" but not perfect - another time, I'd have to take even more care than I did this time!
