'Vandalised' dress

Instructions

Go to Target, get a basic girls long sleeve tee. When you get home, open your wardrobe and find the most expensive thing you had sitting there for years, like my U2 2006 tour T-shirt that my husband got me while I was stuck overseas. Pull out some scrap fabric that sort of matched two tees. Tell your husband you are just about to chop up his present to make a yet another dress for your little ...

Materials

Basic long sleeve t-shirt from Target, ladies T-shirt, scraps of fabric, buttons.

What was your inspiration?

I was very sick a couple of weeks ago, and while I was trying to rest I kept on getting ideas and pictures of this dress in my head, so I had to crawl out of my bed, get the tees to see if they will work together, check if I had matching thread and fabric for the tie, and only then I could go to sleep. This dress haunted me haha When I cut up the U2 t-shirt my husband got me, he said I had vandalised the most expensive article of clothing I had ever owned hahaha However when he saw our Little Monkey run around in her new 'vandalised' dress he said it 'actually looked very cute on' hahaha

What are you most proud of?

Cutting up my special t-shirt (I mist admit it was too small to wear so it sat in my wardrobe for the past 6 years). I did not stuff up stitching. AND my sweetest husband said the result was cute :)

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

If you can't sleep because some project is haunting you - just do it hahaha

Thank you :) I was a bit worried when I cut up mu U2 t-shirt... It was something special. I am just learning sewing knits, and I stuffed up one of my earlier projects and discovered that straight stretch stitch is practically impossible to un-pluck (it is even a word) without ripping the fabric... so I took my time sewing the skirt on as I felt I only had one chance :)

And the funness - sewing is fun, so maybe instructions should a bit more fun, too ;)
