Instructions

This pattern can be made without the nupps but I think it looks great with them. The easiest way I found to make nupps is to use a crochet hook to pull the yarn through all the wraps on the needle. That makes them a breeze.

Difficulty:

Category: Knitting

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Outdoorsy, Retro / Vintage, Romantic, Traditional, Mod, Formal / Bridal, Classic, Victorian / Steampunk

Materials

I made this wrap out of lace weight Kid Seta yarn which is 70% kid Mohair and 30% silk to give it that extra shine. It took 440 - 455 yards (402 - 416 m) Needle size: US 8 - 5.0 mm

What was your inspiration?

I love lace knitting. It wanted to learn to make nupps and I love hearts so I incorperated the nupps into the heart design to give it a more 3-D effect. I had already bought the yarn on sale and it just screamed hearts to me. Maybe because I bought it in February.

This pattern also explains how to make this design without the nupps but I wanted to learn how so I did it with the nupps.

What are you most proud of?

I love how lacy and light it came out. It would make a wonderful wrap for cool spring and summer evenings. I also think it would make a wonderful wedding shawl (in white) or bridesmaid shawl for those sleeveless wedding outfits.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Nupps are not hard if the wraps are done loosely. I also learned to use a crochet hook to pull the working yarn through all of them. There are some wonderful U-tube videos on making nupps that can be helpful. I learned it from a book which is a little harder to follow sometimes. (At least for me.)
