Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Sewing With Knits: 5 Wardrobe Essentials »

Instructions

Learned a lot about knits and my sewing machine with this project. I used a small zig zag for everything. My walking foot was no good on this knit because the feed dogs on the foot kept snagging on the fabric. Also, the knit was very fine and got eaten by the presser foot plate a few times! Used the "sewkeys E" stretch knit tape for the hem and sleeves --really easy.

Category: Sewing

For: Women

Style: Casual

Materials

very soft thin stretch knit--polyester blend

What are you most proud of?

I am a fairly experienced seamstress. But I have never really gotten into knits! I find that some of my fit problems have disappeared with the knits--things that I had a problem with in cottons, like slope shoulders and small bust. The stretchiness of the knits molds to my body better. I used too thin and too cheap of a knit for these T's. I m even wearing a tank under the v-neck. So I will consider these more practice pieces.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Be patient and try out your stitches and hemming on practice pieces first. Cut your pattern pieces as accurately as possible. A rotary cutter is great!

Great necklines. I now enjoy sewing with knits and found this class so liberating. All those great looking knit fabrics wont scare us.
