Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Machine Quilting Negative Space »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Infant/Baby

Style: Mod

Materials

Kona cotton, Dream wool batting

What was your inspiration?

My daughter spotted Jenny Pedigo's design on line and wanted me to use it for her expected baby's quilt.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Jenny's ruler is a must for accuracy and squaring up those curved seam blocks. The curves are do-able with a little practice.

The piecing and quilting are beautiful. I am also waiting 2 weeks for back ordered grey to finish a quilt.

This was pieced over weeks because I was waiting for the grey which was backordered, so I have no idea about piecing time. I think I did the quilting over 2 or 3 days, certainly not full time. I did have a deadline, because baby and his family were shipping out for an Army position abroad and this went with him. Once you get going, the woodgrain is pretty quick. I was ready to do more!

Your background quilting really finishes this off beautifully. Your daughter her baby are pretty lucky :)

Thanks, Teacher! I did use a lot of Jenny's ideas. But the wood grain in the border and the loopy 8s in the gray melon areas are from your class. I'm not so much into modern quilts but I've learned a lot of things that I'm using on quilts. Thanks for doing the class!

That is pretty! It brought a ray of sunshine into this week of cloudy days. I am impressed with your effective quilting choices, the quilting really makes the quilt!
