What was your inspiration?
My daughter found this design on-line and decided that her expected baby would like it for his quilt. She liked the original colors that Jennu used in her tutorial.
I used template ideas from Kimmy Brunner's quilting with templates class for the pumpkin seed designs. Her melon templates were vital to the SID and parallel stitching in the white areas. Fill designs were from Angela Walter's class - quilting in negative space.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Taking a class will push you into more challenging designs! The wood grain fill in the border was easier that I thought it would be and quick too, for dense quilting.
